The Transfer Station Facility primarily consists of a waste drop-off area where bagged waste is deposited into a large stationary trash compactor. No permit is required, nor do you need to be a City resident. This service operates by purchasing a printed, large plastic bag at the cost of $4.00 per bag. Bags can be purchased at any of the following sites:
The Transfer Station and Recycling Center operates on Weibel Ave from 8:00 am to 3:45 pm, Tuesday through Saturday.
If you have questions you can contact the Transfer Station directly at (518) 581-1430 or at the DPW office at (518) 587-3550, ext. 2555.
Saratoga County uses a single-stream recycling process, so residents do not need to separate recyclables. The Transfer Station Facility accepts Single Stream Recyclables. Click here for more information on recycling in Saratoga.
Hazardous Waste
Every other year Saratoga Springs has a Household Hazardous Waste Day, which is reimbursed 50% through a grant from NYSDEC. The Hazardous Waste Day allows Saratoga Springs City residents to get rid of harmful toxic substances and pollutants that can eventually end up in our watershed. The next event will be held in the fall of 2019.
Compost
PITNEY FARM COMPOSTING ON HOLD DUE TO COVID
Composting your food scraps is simple in Saratoga Springs. You can compost for free by bringing compostable materials to the Saratoga Farmers Market and depositing them in their silver compost bins year round. In all seasons except winter, you can drop off compostable materials at Pitney Meadows Community Farm for on-site composting. To learn more please visit the following websites:
