Ice Rink Public Skating Sessions

The Saratoga Springs Recreation Department invites you to the Ice Rinks located at Weibel Ave. Choose from a variety of Drop In ice skate sessions (descriptions and fees below).

I WOULD LIKE TO SKATE, DO I NEED AN ACCOUNT JUST TO "DROP IN"?

YES! We require visitors to the Recreation Department and Ice Rink to scan in using a DROP IN REC CARD. Create a user account (it just takes a minute!) to obtain your DROP IN REC CARD.

Visitors wishing to "Drop In" for Open Figure, Open Adult Hockey and Family/Open Stick should CREATE AN ACCOUNT (using the ONLINE REGISTRATION button below). Once your account is created, you can sign up for a DROP IN REC CARD

*Remember to save your log in password as you will need this each time you log in to your account.

Drop In Sessions at Ice Rinks (Vernon / Weibel)

  • *Family Skate (parents and children 13 and younger)
  • *Open Public
  • Open Figure
  • Open Adult (17+ and 40+) Hockey 
  • Family (parents and children 13 and younger) and Open Stick

*Drop In Rec card not required for Non-City residents for Family Skate and Open Public sessions. City residents with an account will receive the City discount.


Children 10 & younger must be accompanied by a person 16 years or older.


Cash or check (made out to Commissioner of Finance) only accepted as in person payment for all public sessions

Family Skate and Open Public admission and skate rental tickets are available through your Community Pass account,

Buy 10, get 1 free punch cards are available through your Community Pass account for Family/Open Stick, Open Adult Hockey, and Open Figure

Open Figure, Family Stick, Open Stick, and Open Adult Hockey (17+ and 55+) skaters:

Family Skate (Parents and children 13 and younger) and Open Public Information:

Family Skate sessions are for parents and children 13 and under. Open Public sessions are for participants of all ages.

No figure skating or hockey allowed on Family Skate or Open Public sessions.

Fees:
City: $4 (registration for Drop In Rec Card needed beforehand)
Non-City: $5
Skate rentals and sharpenings (when available) can be purchased for an additional $5. Please call Ice Rink (518-583-3462) ahead to ensure someone is there to sharpen skates.

Family Stick (Hockey session for parents and children 13 and younger) Information:

Family Stick sessions are designed to work on hockey drills for parents and children 13 and younger.

This is NOT a Drop-off program - a parent or responsible adult must be on the ice to supervise those 13 and younger.

All participants (parents and children) must wear a helmet with cage or face shield and gloves.

No games allowed!

Everyone must have signed up for a Rec Card prior to their first visit (www.SaratogaRec.com and click on the blue "Online Registration" button.

All participants (except goalies) must pay.

Fees:
City: $9
Non-City: 11
Coaches: $6

Open Stick (Hockey session) Information:

Open Stick sessions are designed to work on hockey drills for participants of all ages.

NO GAMES allowed!

All participants must wear a helmet with cage or face shield and gloves.

Fees:
City: $9
Non-City: 11
Coaches: $6

Open Adult (17+) Hockey Information:

Full hockey gear including helmet with cage or face shield and gloves required. 

Fees:
City: $9
Non-City: $11
Goalies: Free

Open Adult (40+) Hockey Information

These sessions are for hockey players 40 years and older only.

Goalies only are allowed to play if they are under 40

Full hockey gear including helmet with cage or face shield and gloves required.

Open Figure Information:

Figure skating sessions for practice and lessons.
