Population Health Innovation Summit 2019,  co-sponsored by NYSTEC, Innovate 518, the City of Saratoga Springs, and the City of Schenectady, will host its third annual Population Health Innovation Summit at the Albany Capital Center on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

This all-day event will unite local government leaders, health industry experts, and frontline implementers to showcase promising innovations that leverage Smart City technology to improve the lives of all New Yorkers.

“Please join us for pioneering case studies, engaging panel discussions, and numerous opportunities to network with professionals in the community who share common goals, including how to better intersect social determinants of health with smart city tenets.” said NYSTEC President & CEO Mike Walsh, who founded IgniteU NY.  Additionally, the program will highlight success stories and hone in on lessons that can be applied to other need areas, as well as foster discussion on how diffusion of innovations can be accelerated, scaled, or better integrated through community partnerships.

For example, Frank Zarro, the Creator and Program Director of WhenPeopleWork, will present a case study during a session focusing on innovations in supporting employment and a path to economic well-being. Frank helped create and serves as civic learning coordinator of the Project on Restorative Justice at Skidmore College. WhenPeopleWork is owned and operated by First-GIG.com, LLC, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., which administers two other employment matching services—1stGig, which focuses on job matching for recent college graduates, and VetsBridge, which specializes in matching returning veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces with jobs.

“Saratoga Springs, and other Smart Cities, are not defined by the technology, rather, we use technology to improve the quality of health and well-being of our citizens.” said Commissioner of Finance and Smart City Commission Chair, Michele Madigan. “I encourage everyone to attend this Health Innovation Summit to learn how smart communities, like ours, are discovering smarter, better ways to;  match meaningful paid work with the unemployed, protect the elders from fraud, eliminate homelessness, assist in addiction recovery, and help children with autism spectrum disorders.”
Population Health Innovation Summit 2019, which is free and open to the public, includes a networking lunch and a cocktail reception immediately following the event. For more information, including registration information, visit https://www.igniteuny.com/phis2019.
