Lucas M. Cicora - The Samaritan
On January 23, 2008 at about 6:42 am, fire and police personnel responded to a fire at a multifamily residence located at 153 Grand Avenue. The temperature at the time was in the low teens. Upon the arrival of emergency personnel, the residence appeared to be fully engulfed by flames but all the residents had made it out of the building safely.

Mr. Lucas Cicora, living near the burning building, voluntarily and without solicitation took in many of the displaced residents and supplied them with blankets, food and coffee in their time of need. In doing so, Mr. Cicora enabled both the fire and police personnel to concentrate on their primary responsibilities of extinguishing the fire and ensuring the safety of the other neighbors and passersby.

Mr. Cicora's actions were selfless and went above and beyond that of most citizens presented with the same situation. Because of the compassion he displayed for those in need, the department is honored to present him with the Samaritan Award.
