CITY HALL BUILDING STATUS
As many of you probably know, the City Hall building at 474 Broadway was struck by lightning on Friday evening, August 17, 2018. The damage is due to weather more than fire and water remediation; a drainage pipe in the roof was struck and melted, causing heavy rains to pour into the building. The pipe was repaired without delay, but damage is substantial and we are preparing for alternative work and operation arrangements.
Currently City Hall is being cleaned and dried; the air quality is being tested; furniture and equipment is being safeguarded; damage and repair assessments are taking place. The demolition phase of the project is nearing its conclusion, and focus is turning towards reconstruction.
The first phase of our plan going forward is the restoration of the first floor of City Hall, specifically the Accounts Department and City Council Room, and we will be moving forward after air quality testing is complete. The remainder of the building will be isolated, and will be addressed as part of a subsequent reconstruction phase. Several photos of various areas that effected are below.
CITY HALL SERVICES STATUS
City Hall services have largely been relocated to the City Recreation Center located at 15 Vanderbilt Ave. The following departments are available to the public during normal City Hall business hours (9-5 M; 9-4:30 T-F).

Access to the Recreation Center is otherwise limited until further notice. For information call 518.587.3550 x2300.
Important: The Police Department continue its operations, uninterrupted, at 5 Lake Avenue. The Fire Department continues its operations uninterrupted at Fire Stations 1 and 2, located at 60 Lake Avenue and 166 West Avenue, respectively.
