Mayor Meg Kelly, City of Saratoga Springs, is pleased to announce that the City has approved an easement agreement with the State of New York granting a perpetual and permanent easement, at no cost to the taxpayer, for the construction and operation of a Fire/EMS facility on Henning Road (across from BOCES).

Partnering with the New York State Franchise Oversight Board, the New York State Racing Association, the City, and its citizens, Mayor Kelly brought the final document to City Council for unanimous approval at the April 7th City Council meeting. “Thanks to our efforts, the addition of Fire/EMS Station 3 facility is finally possible in a location clearly situated to serve an area that has long considered itself underserved – the East Side,” states the Mayor. “The City has been trying to resolve this issue for almost 20 years.”

The Henning Road location meets a number of issues, including service provisions, response times, command post needs, and access to essential organizations. The Saratoga Springs Fire Department was consulted throughout the process; neighbors were informed and provided opportunities to address concerns, several of which have been resolved (including extended buffers); and many citizens have spoken throughout the years addressing the need for this facility.

Mayor Kelly added, “This is the beginning of a profoundly beneficial project that will further protect the life, health, and safety of our citizens and visitors. I am honored to bring this accomplishment to the City of Saratoga Springs.”
