Ron was born in Schenectady and grew up in Glens Falls. He attended Colgate University, received a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and a law degree from Fordham University. He and his wife, Jennie, raised their three children in Saratoga Springs. Over his career, in addition to Ron’s work as a consumer protection and civil rights attorney, he served as Executive Director of Earth Share of New York and was President of the Legal Aid Society of Northeastern New York. In 2004, Ron was elected Commissioner of Public Safety and spent two terms serving the City. In 2021 he was elected Mayor of Saratoga Springs and is the first Mayor of a City in New York State of Asian American descent.
